Introduction

My name is Dan Eckert. I am a Computer Engineering and Computer Science undergraduate dual-degree candidate in the College of Engineering at North Carolina State University. I am also pursuing advanced studies in English and History to develop a well-rounded classical education.

Extracurricular

In addition to my studies, I am a self-motivated member of the Information Technology community. I constantly seek new ways to develop my skills and interests in software development, computer systems, computer networking, and information security. I thrive with new challenges, and I am excited by opportunities to learn.

My primary interests in the field of engineering include the development of computer networks, information systems, communication systems, and information assurance. My experience ranges from software design and development to computer security and network troubleshooting.

Outside of school and work, I enjoy volunteering my time to help individuals and organizations adopt new approaches to technology. It is very satisfying to donate my time and training to help advance the efforts of groups and individuals that might otherwise be unable to leverage technological advances in pursuit of their activities.

Non-Technical

In addition to my engineering work, I love to explore other areas of knowledge and expertise that I might not otherwise encounter. This exploration allows me to better understand the world as a whole, this understanding gives me a unique perspective in my engineering work.

One of my main areas of interest is theatre and the various activities therein. Volunteering at a local theatre allows me to learn and exercise new skills, including professional lighting equipment and set construction. Working in the theatre also gives me the opportunity to interface with a wide variety of people from all walks of life.

Beyond theatre, I enjoy exploring economics, history, law, and many other topics as they apply to culture, humanity, and life in general. By developing my understanding of different aspects of life, I am able to approach peers, management, and customers in my engineering work with a better understanding of their interests and perspectives.
